This Autumn, particularly over half term IP17GNS have carried out lots of community enrichment activities for people of all ages. Alongside our core activities of supporting those experiencing isolation or poverty, we also look to provide opportunities for enjoyment, learning and the promotion of wellbeing.
Gather and Grow Party
The Gather and Grow parent & toddler group celebrated spooky season by inviting all members to an Autumnal-themed party. There were games, dressing up and lots of seasonal treats for everyone who attended.
Funky Fridays
Our School Holiday club Funky Fridays made a return for half term. The session ran from 10am-2pm with activities including educational Hedgehog talk and games (from Suffolk Wildlife Trust), donut eating competitions and spooky mummy make-over masterclass. We were delighted to receive such a lot of support from the community, being oversubscribed again and are looking at providing more activities for children in the future. We’d like to give an enormous thank you to all our volunteer who make these fun-filled sessions possible. Thanks also must go to Saxmundham Waitrose and Tesco for providing food for the children’s lunches.
Apple Pressing Days
In September and October, the SAX Community Fridge hosted 2 apple pressing days. With donations from Green Farm, Benhall and volunteers, and an apple press provided by Caroline from Park Gate Care Farm; we chopped, squeezed and juiced hundreds of apples. Visitors on the day sampled and took away lots of apple juice, completely free.
Line Dancing
Line dancing classes continue to be a hit this Autumn, with lots of regular and new faces in attendance. The sessions are designed to get people out of the house and moving in a fun, low-pressure environment, encouraging health, movement and socialisation for all.
