This week saw the beginning of a new line dancing class in Saxmundham Market Hall. This is one of the free activities organised by IP17 GNS community group in our bid to reduce increasing levels of isolation and inactivity brought about by the Coronavirus Pandemic.
The series of completely free activities, open to anyone in the Saxmundham area include family rounders matches, yoga classes and Nordic walking groups. And on Monday night the first of our series of line dancing classes kicked off in great style!
All of the classes are designed to be inclusive and suitable for all ages, abilities and fitness levels. The line dancing especially is aimed at inclusivity and FUN! We have excellent, experienced teachers, so if you’re already a keen dancer you would fit right in. However don’t be put off if those dancing shoes have been gathering dust for a while, or even if you’ve never danced before.
IP17 GNS member Bryony Peall says, “The class is perfect for anyone who doesn’t take themselves too seriously. The aim is to see some friendly faces, get out of the house & move a bit more than you would on a normal Monday night. It doesn’t matter if you have two left feet as long as you can have a laugh about it!”
our first line dancing class was well attended, a mixture of people & abilities but great fun. One dancer said during the break, “I was so excited when I saw the advert. I haven’t been dancing since the 80’s”
Another said “It was absolutely fabulous, I reckon I have burnt off more calories than would have at a gym”
Due to social distancing measures we have limited spaces for this course so you must book before you arrive. There are still a few places left for next Monday (7:30-9pm). To book call Penny on 07835064509 & we’ll see you there!
Many thanks to Karen & Nikki from Still Dancing Line Dancing Club in Harleston for hosting the lessons!
